iF ranking - criteria

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The iF ranking is based on all awards from the last three years in these iF design award competitions:

  • iF product design award
  • iF communication design award
  • iF material design award (2012)
  • iF packaging design award
  • iF concept design award (as part of the iF ranking university)


The iF ranking is updated after each Awards Ceremony. For each iF design award 20 points will be given. For each iF gold award 100 points. The iF ranking is divided into three categories:

  • iF ranking creative
    (In-house designer, external design office, communication design agencies, architects, interior designers)
  • iF ranking company
    (manufacturers, contracting organization)
  • iF ranking university
    (student results from the iF concept design award)



If a competition entry is registered jointly by more than one participant, we will attribute the points to the first name and address in the registration form.

Companies with individual departments within the same country or network agencies with individual branches within the same country will be treated as one entity under one logo. If requested, companies and agencies with branches in different countries can be treated as one transnational brand. The iF ranking is updated after each awards ceremony. We reserve the right to change the iF ranking as needed.
