Packaging can be enticing, it can be image promoting and it can symbolize values. Good packaging attracts attention – and awards: packaging design, packaging graphics and packaging materials are assessed in the iF packaging design award. Participants include manufacturers, product developers and designers from large international companies, from agencies and from small and medium sized enterprises. The award focuses on the emotional and functional qualities of packaging, it evaluates aesthetics and both ecological and economic sustainability.
Sales packaging and gift packaging, display and promotion packaging, transport and logistics packaging, labels, fasteners and other packaging accessories, packaging graphics and packaging materials can be entered in the following categories:

All types of packaging for perfume, care products, cosmetics, hygiene products, pharmacy products, medical products, cleaning products, household products etc.

All types of packaging for jewelry, watches, clothes and accessories, sports articles, toys, music, games and videos etc.
05. consumer electronics
All types of packaging for technology products such as headphones, MP3 players, computers and accessories, cameras and accessories, mobile technology devices and accessories, kitchen appliances etc.
06. packaging formdesign
Brand-independent packaging with a focus on ergonomics and functionality
07. research+development / professional concepts
- Experimental and conceptual designs, created on the designer’s own initiative
- Prototypes that are not yet on the market, and that will not be launched before 2015
- Studies and research projects in the area of packaging
- Materials / smart materials for packaging
Eligible for submission are professional works by developers, manufactures, designers, institutes and universities (no student projects). The decision as to whether an entry will be accepted rests with iF.
In January, some 50 experts from all over the world will come together to select the winners in the iF design awards 2014.The jury session will last for three days. Behind closed doors, the jury will view, touch, explore, test, analyze and, most importantly, thoroughly discuss all entries. Although each entry will be assessed on the basis of clear criteria:
